Raleigh St. Augustine Turf Grass

Raleigh St. Augustine is our most demanded turfgrass. St. Augustine Decline(SAD) resistant, Raleigh forms a thick lawn by having wide-coarse leaf blades(9-10mm) with a dark green color. An aggressive grass, Raleigh recovers from moderate traffic relatively quicky from above ground runners. One of the best shade tolerant grasses Raleigh needs 5 to 6 hours of direct sunlight to achieve a desired looking turf. Highly susceptible to chinch bugs and fall brown patch.

Mowing is a critical and often under appreciated
cultural practice:

Maintain Raleigh at 2.5-3.5" (3" is optimal)
Heights above 3.5" will reduce quality
Rotary mowers are acceptable
Mow every 5-7 days during the active growing season
Mow every 10-14 days, or as needed, during cooler weather
Never cut more than 1/3 of the total length of the blade at any one mowing
