Palisades Zoysia is our most popular
zoysia.
Palisades forms a thick lawn with
medium-broad textured leaf blades(5-7mm)
with a dark green color. Developed to
compete for the St. Augustine market,
Palisades requires less water and fertilizer
and has comparable shade tolerance while
producing a thicker turf than St. Augustine.
Highly disease resistant, Palisades is
immune to chinch bugs, mole crickets, and
sod webworms. Slightly susceptible to fall
armyworm. |

Mowing is a critical and often under
appreciated
cultural practice:
- Maintain Palisades at 1.5-2.5" (2"
is optimal)
- Tolerates mowing to .5-.875 for
sports turf/golf course applications -
mow 2-3 times per week
- Heights above 2.5" will reduce
quality
- Rotary mowers are preferred for
heights 1" or higher, Reel mowers are
preferred for heights below 1"
- Mow every 5-7 days during the active
growing season
- Mow every 10-14 days, or as needed,
during cooler weather
- Never cut more than 1/3 of the total
length of the blade at any one mowing
